History and development
Tektro started as a small factory with 20 employees, producing 50.000 rim brakes per month. In 1999, the company launched its first hydraulic disc brake, which was a breakthrough and defined its focus on innovation. In 2006, Tektro established the subsidiary brand TRP to address professional and high-end users.
Technology and production
The company uses vertical integration, with around 80% of production being done in-house – from forging and heat treatment to CNC machining and carbon fiber components. This strategy ensures full control over quality. Tektro products are individually and extensively tested to maintain safety and performance.
Global presence and markets
Tektro has manufacturing facilities in Taiwan and China, as well as sales and service offices in the USA, Germany and Europe. The European headquarters, Tektro Europe GmbH in Haßloch (Germany), was established in 2019 to serve the growing e-bike market.
Innovation and e-bike focus
In recent years, Tektro has achieved success with braking technologies for e-bikes and e-cargo bikes, including the TRP C 2.3 system with 2,3mm rotors and heavy-duty calipers. Collaborations with leading manufacturers such as Riese & Müller and CUBE underline the company's position as a technology partner in the growing e-mobility sector.
